Masks, from Myths to Modern Times

Masks are mythical formations since thousands of years up to now, persisting in Carnival. They mostly show ugliness as well as horror. Effects are achieved by alterations of the nose-vertical and the two horizontals of human face; the pair of eyes and the mouth. Most impressive are the amplifications of the mouth by enlarging, lateral blowing up and puffy lips. Nowadays similar alterations are intended to stimulate erotic attractivity. On the scale of common beauty up to the ugliness of the masks, we find the attempts of decorative cosmetology, far away from natural beauty and much closer to ugliness and even horror. This should be avoided.
