摘要
The relative complexity and cost of mm-wave oscillators motivates the use of subharmonic mixers, which require local oscillators at lower frequencies. However, the high conversion loss of subharmonic mixers limits their use. This paper presents a new x4 microstrip subharmonic mixer with enhanced performance. The mixer operates over the 38.5 to 40 GHz frequency range with a 2.5 GHz IF. It uses an X-band LO, and its conversion loss is 9 dB. The improved performance, which is close to the theoretical-prediction, is achieved by careful design and idler recovery.
