摘要
We determined the minimum number of hairs that need to be examined per scat and the minimum number of scats required for estimating leopard diet in Gir forest, India. Examination of twenty hairs/scat enable the detection of multiple prey species. A minimum of eighty scats is needed to reliably estimate leopard's diet. Forty eight percent of the. scats contained single prey species while the rest of the scats had remains of multiple prey species.
