摘要
A comparison is made of the elastic and inelastic scattering of H-3 and He-3 from Ne-22,Ne-20 and Mg-26,Mg-24 to look for differences between the collective shapes of protons and neutrons in the target nuclei. Differential cross sections for the scattering of 33.4 MeV H-3 and He-3 from Ne-22 and Ne-20 are measured. Existing data for the scattering of H-3 and He-3 from Mg-26 and Mg-24 at around 34 MeV is included in the analysis. The cross sections are analysed by the coupled-channels method on the basis of the collective model and deformed optical model potential fits to the data are obtained. "Satchler's theorem" is used to relate the multipole moments of the deformed potential to the corresponding moments of the nuclear matter. The isospin-dependent nature of the nucleon-nucleon interaction provides the possibility of detecting differences between the moments, and hence distribution, of the target protons and neutrons. Analysis of the dominant rotational states of the target nuclei suggests that the proton distributions are less deformed than the neutron distributions for the Ne-22 and Mg-26 nuclei. The deformation lengths and multipole moments from this analysis are compared to other experimental and theoretical results.
