Living together in the schools. How it is seen by students, parents and teachers

This article deals with analysis of the perspectives and representations of the educative community members about the interpersonal relationships within schools. We also wanted to know if these representations are mediated by personal and/or organizational variables, capable of provoking differential effects on each group of study. Our sample was composed of 160 secondary education teachers, 300 students at the same teaching level, and their parents. The questionnaire contained both socio-demographic and Likert format items, with 5 alternatives. The dimensions studied were living together, norms, indiscipline, punitive behaviours, and measures to promote living together in the schools. The results confirm the existence of important differences in the perception of groups. The findings are useful for the future, mainly to elaborate or modify plans and programmes for socio-educative intervention to improve coexistence in the schools.
