摘要：
A novel reaction buffer for the derivatization of amino acids in seawater with the o-phthaldialdehyde/2-mercaptoethanol reagent is introduced. This buffer involves citric instead of boric acid and effectively prevents the precipitation of Ca and Mg as hydroxides or carbonates under the alkaline conditions required for derivatization. With this buffer, an autosampler with the capability of pre-column derivatization can be used for the HPLC-separation and fluorimetric detection of dissolved free amino acids in seawater.
