摘要
Since 1938-1960 the Department of Physical Education was headed by the graduate of the School of Physical Training of Moscow Military District L.G. Vydrin. The main teaching staff consisted of V.V. Kuzmin, B.M. Kim, V.S. Tolmachyov, A.A. Gil, S.V. Bobin, V.S. Kozyavin, T.S. Kasatkin, generally they were alumni of Tomsk Pedagogical University Physical Education Faculty. The material resources left much to be desired. The work in the sphere of physical culture during the post-war period was huge. It began with revival of vigorous activity of voluntary-sports societies harmed a lot during the war period. Construction and reconstruction of sports facilities was necessary. There was almost no sport equipment and shells. In particular, in Tomsk State Uniersity (TSU) a former vegetable storehouse in the hostel yard was adapted for the gym, and in the basement of the 2nd building (nowadays the 3rd building) a room was given for the Physical Education Department and the skiing lodge. In 1952, due to joint efforts of students under the leadership of the teacher of the Physical Education Department V.V. Kuzmin a sports ground was opened behind the main building. But nevertheless the material resources of TSU in comparison with other universities were slightly better, however they did not meet all the requirements of the academic process. In 1948 some positive changes began to be observed. In 1950 Tomsk had two stadiums, four complex sports grounds, one forty meter ski springboard and 234 gymnastic platforms. Minor improvement of material resources became possible with the resolution of the 8th Plenum of the Central Committee of the All-Union Leninist Young Communist League "About sports and sport work of the Komsomol organizations and the youth" in 1952. In the 1950s the team from Tomsk actively participated in skiing competitions taking prizes at the regional level. In 1950 the TSU team took the third prize in the competitions devoted to the election day in the Supreme Council of the USSR. In 1956 Tomsk athletes became the winners of RSFSR championship among the Siberian teams. Skating was also actively developed in TSU. But the most successful development in TSU was summer sports, first of all, track and field. Athletes successfully took part in the competitions in Siberia, RSFSR championships, and international competitions. Game sports (basketball, volleyball, soccer) had development in TSU, too. In 1955 volleyball players were the fifth place at the championship of the Ministry of Higher Education and the Central Council of Voluntary Sport Societies ''Nauka''. Chess tournaments between the Polytechnic Institute and the State University were also remarkable. Speaking about sport development in TSU in the 1950s it should be noticed that it had a mass tendency. Despite the lack of material resources, the athletes of TSU successfully participated in competitions of various levels. This is the merit of the Physical Education Department and public organizations of the University.
