PHOTOSUBSTITUTION OF FE(CO)5 WITH PET3 IN CYCLOHEXANE - FE(CO)4PET3 AND FE(CO)3(PET3)2 AS SINGLE-PHOTON PRODUCTS

摘要
Substitution of two ligands on a metal carbonyl complex upon the absorption of a single photon is well-known in the gas phase but not in solution. A single-photon absorption by Fe(CO)5 leads to the formation of Fe(CO)3(PEt3)2 as the major product in cyclohexane in the presence of PEt3. Our results are consistent with Fe(CO)3(PEt3)2 being formed via a triplet monosubstituted product. The triplet could then dissociate CO to form Fe(CO)3(PEt3)2 [GRAPHICS]
