摘要：
X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) can provide useful information on the speciation of complex matrices of environmental concern. Its capabilities and limits are evidentiated by analyzing specimens of airborne particulate matter, industrial dust and volcanic rock. The results are discussed in the light of literature information.
