ON THE SLOWLY VARYING ENVELOPE APPROXIMATION IN COUPLED-WAVE THEORY

摘要
In a recent paper, Crosignani et al. have claimed that the slowly varying envelope approximation customarily invoked in the framework of coupled wave theory is redundant. In this letter it will be shown that this conclusion is incorrect, and some details of the validity of the approximation will be discussed.
