摘要
The translation from a minority literature into a central language is characterized by its asymmetric nature. Moreover, the relationship established between two contact languages like Basque and Spanish has its own characteristics, considered that sharing the same geographic area influences every cultural production. This contribution focuses on the translation of literature and it will offer a general overview on the production of translations in the Basque-Spanish directionality. The paper will observe which role play both the writer and the translator and to what extent their work is subject to the market rules. Current trends will help us understand the dependency can have a minority literature to a central system. Finally, we will address the debate about whether it is possible to treat the original literature and the target literature as two separated compartments.
