SUPPRESSION OF NEUTRINO ENERGY-LOSSES IN REACTIONS OF DIRECT URCA PROCESSES BY SUPERFLUIDITY IN NEUTRON-STAR NUCLEI

The suppression factors R of neutrino energy losses in reactions of the direct urca processes by the superfluidity of baryons in neutron star cores were calculated. The superfluidity of baryons in the S-1(0) and P-3(2) states with a projection of total baryon-pair momentum onto the quantization axis m = 0 or m = 2 was treated. In the case of strong superfluidity of the S-1(0) or P-3(2) type (m = 0) for particles of the same sort (T much less than T(c), where T(c) is the critical temperature), the factor R drops exponentially as temperature T decreases. The factor R decreases like (T/T(c))2 at strong superfluidity of the P-3(2) type (m = 2). If baryons of both species participating in the direct urca process display strong superfluidity, the factor R is close to the minimum factors for baryons of the same type. These results are necessary for simulation of cooling of neutron stars with superfluid cores.
