BENZOYLACETONE ISONICOTINOYL HYDRAZONE COMPLEXES OF SOME DIVALENT TRANSITION-METALS

Two forms of benzoylacetone isonicotinoyl hydrazone, the yellow (Bz) and the white (BzH2O) have been prepared. Analytical, TGA, IR and NMR results showed that the yellow form is a mixture of keto-enol tautomers while the white form is a mixture of cis-trans tautomers of the enol form only. The complexes are of the 1:1 type M (Bz -2H) xH2O, where x = 0 when M = Ni, Cu, Zn and Pd, but x = 1 when M = Co, and of the 1:2 type Cd(Bz - H)2, they have been isolated and characterized by physicochemical techniques.
