CHEMICAL TREATMENT OF DIOXIN RESIDUES FROM WASTE-WATER PROCESSING

摘要
Alkaline dechlorination has been used for remediation of contaminated soils and oils. This paper discusses use of dechlorination for treatment of sludge and activated carbon resulting from wastewater treatment. Concentrated water treatment residues containing dioxin and other halogenated compounds were obtained from a European industrial wastewater treatment plant. These residues were treated under laboratory conditions using chemical dechlorination. Concentrations of dioxins and other contaminants were reduced by as much as 99.99% during treatment.
