DISTRIBUTED CONTROL-SYSTEM OPERATOR TRAINING

The use of CRT-based distributed control systems in most new process plants and the replacement of panelboard analog systems in older plants promises to improve the control and operation of the processes. However, for this promise to be realized, the operator must understand and accept the new control system, particularly the new operator interface. This paper discusses the training of process operators, the different types of training that may be needed, and some of the methods of the training. © 1990.
