Measurement of the thermal conductivity of argon using hot-wire type thermal diffusion columns

摘要
Hot wire type of thermal diffusion columns have been used to determine thermal conductivity of argon. Convection. temperature jump and end conduction are established experimentally to be small. The new data taken in the range 350 to 1500 degrees K are correlated by 10(5)lambda = 1.355 + 1.091 x 10(-2)T - 1.876 x 10(-6)T(2). Here the thermal conductivity, lambda is in cal cm(-1) sec(-1) deg(-1) and temperature, T. in degrees K. It is found that the new X values agree with all the existing data and theory well within the estimated total uncertainty of +/- 2% of our measurement.
