摘要
Bullet embolization is a rare phenomenon. When it occurs, prompt recognition and treatment can prevent serious complications.1-13 Intraarterial bullet emboli result in ischemia, which can lead to organ failure or loss of a limb.2-4,6,7 In the venous system, bullets may migrate to the right heart or pulmonary artery.2-6,8,11-13 In every penetrating missile injury, the missile must be accounted for if an appropriate exit wound cannot be found. This report documents what we believe to be the first case of bullet embolization to the heart following a gunshot wound to the mandible. © 1992.
