OPTIMIZATION OF EDDY-CURRENT INSPECTION OF COATINGS

Curves of the sensitivity of eddy current transducers to the thickness and specific electrical conductivity of nonmagnetic metallic coatings on a nonmagnetic base are calculated. Equations are given for calculation of the relative signals in amplitude inspection and curves of the relationship of output signal to normalized coating thickness in phase inspection are calculated. The possibility of turning out changes in specific electrical conductivity in measurements of coating thickness is shown. Examples of calculation are given.
