摘要
Modern communications systems have to keep pace with an increasing demand for different new services and increasing communication across multiple countries. This requires communications systems that are as open, flexible and globally uniform as possible. The introduction of the Synchronous Digital Hierarchy (SDH) is an important step towards flexible and uniform open systems. In order to uniformly and globally manage the complex functionality of an open communications system, its management interface must as well be open and standardized. For this purpose, an unambiguous and unique language for the communication of management information between open systems is required. The Information Model provides the basis for this.
