The statistics compiled by the German Federal Office for Trade and Industry (Bundesamt fur Wirtschaft) for the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Conservation of Nature, and Reactor Safety of imports and exports of nuclear fuels and source materials in 1990 show a major rise by 46.3% in imports and a pronounced drop by 44.3% in exports, compared to the levels in the previous year. Source material for the purposes of these statistics refers only to uranium concentrate. Quantitatively, the biggest import items are source materials, depleted uranium, and uranium enriched 3% to 10%. Exports of unirradiated material quantitatively comprise mainly depleted uranium, source materials, and uranium enriched up to 10%.
