An apparatus is described for the study of materials properties - integrated absorption coefficient, losses of mass, and gas liberation - under the influence of low-temperature plasma and electromagnetic radiation with a nearly solar spectral composition. An ion source simulates the ion composition and energy of ionospheric plasma and produces a flux of up to 10(13) ions/(cm2sec).
