摘要
Some oxovanadium (IV) complexes of methyl phenyl sulphoxide (MPSO) with general composition VOX(2) . 2MPSO (X = Cl, Br, I, NO3, NCS or 0.5C(2)O(4)) and VO(ClO4)(2) . 4MPSO have been isolated and characterized through elemental analysis, conductance and molecular weight, magnetic susceptibility, IR and electronic spectra. Magnetic susceptibility measured at room temperature (35 degrees C) indicate the absence of metal-metal interactions between vanadium ions. Except the perchlorate complexes, all other behave as non-electrolytes in nitrobenzene. In the case of perchlorate complex, the molar conductance value suggests the 1 : 2 nature of the complex. IR data indicate that MPSO was coordinated to the VO2+ via its lone oxygen atom. It is suggested that penta-coordinated oxovanadium (IV) compounds can have a tetragonal pyramidal structure. Thermal properties of the complexes were also discussed.
