Even today, normal lathes are still required for many tasks, for example for manufacturing tools in repair and training facilities. Evidence of this is provided by the "classic" high-performance lathe with steplessly adjustable three-phase drive, two mechanical gear speeds, an automatic cycle function for turning and thread cutting, adjustable axis drive and a digital display of slide travels and main spindle speed.
