DISTAL FRACTURES OF THE HUMERUS

Of all fractures of the humerus, the distal fractures are the most frequent in the dog. The author's investigations between 1985 and 1989 at the Small Animal Clinic of the Tierarztliche Hochschule Hannover, F.R.G., showed a percentage of 67 fractures (114 of 170 fractures of the humerus). The fracture classification according to UNGER et al. (1990) is presented, applied and discussed. The distribution of the fractures after this system was practicable in all of the present cases. Therapy and results are listed. Surgical treatment has proved to be favourable.
