摘要
Discusses the relationship between production and dissemination of information on practices used by librarians and information users, against the backdrop of a (r) evolution of technology, through which documents appear in born-digital format with unparalleled speed of publication. Points to the obsolescence of the methods used for data processing in traditional libraries, due to technological possibilities for information processing such as search engines and indexing in electronic repositories. Discusses the information needs of types of information users. It thus explores the institutional repositories, Open Archives, ontologies and the Semantic Web, such as initiatives to address the desire of readers for access to full texts in the digital environment. And argues that the contemporary librarianship must be guided in this evolutionary path of information technology within the organization and retrieval of information for a better understanding and bring the new treatment necessary informational, through the theories and methodologies legacy.
