A theory of optical effects in quasi-zero dimension systems (quantum dots) in the presence of a magnetic field is developed. Interband processes (infrared absorption, resonance Faraday effect, inelastic scattering of light at a distance from the interband resonance) is considered in the parabolic model of the lateral potential. The model is in good agreement with the available experimental data and enables one to obtain exact results for a multiparticle system with interaction. An extension of the Cohen theorem is proposed which includes a determination of the infrared absorption line intensities. The possibility of a peculiar << phase transition >> with respect to the magnetic field in the absorption and inelastic scattering spectra is indicated for interband processes. The structure of the exciton resonance for various models of quantum dots is ascertained.
