This essay details recent research on practices of nurturing children into Christian faith in Black churches in the U.K. and U.S. The analysis focuses on the socio-cultural constructs that inform these practices and influence the communities' hermeneutical strategies, especially as they engage the Bible. I argue that Personal Construct Psychology (PCP) can enable educators and pastoral practitioners to discover how these communities construe meaning as they engage in the task of nurturing children into faith. It can also assist them in developing more holistic and democratic approaches to this missiological task.
