In the twenty-fifth year anniversary of the massacre at El Mozote, The School of Art and Open Studio of Perquin, El Salvador, in collaboration with the community of El Mozote, painted a mural in the location where on December 11, 1981, more than 1,000 people were slaughtered. In addition to the painting of the mural, this community-based art project and public intervention recovered the original building where the Argentine Forensic Anthropology Team (AFAT) exhumed 143 victims in 1992, 136 of whom were children under the age of twelve. The average age of the childrenwas approximately six years old. © Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.
