摘要
Improvements in the technology of rechargeable alkaline manganese dioxide-zinc cells are made by utilising microporous CELGARD 2400 polypropylene film anode separator materials to inhibit the migration of zincate ions from the anode cavity to the cathode. This reduces haeterolite formation in the cathode. An improved D-size (LR 20) rechargeable alkaline manganese dioxide-zinc cell has demonstrated an accumulated capacity of 140 Ah in 50 cycles as compared to 7 Ah capacity of a similarly sized primary cell. In using this technology significant quantities of raw materials can be conserved and substantial reduction in the environmental level of mercury could be attained.
