ANTIBIOGRAM TYPING OF STAPHYLOCOCCUS-AUREUS OF BOVINE MASTITIS ORIGIN

Fifty coagulase-positive strains of Siaphylococcus aureus isolated from clinical and sub-clinical bovine mastitis cases were subjected to antibiogram testing using 34 antibiotics and antimicrobials. By disc-diffusion technique the isolates were differentiated into 44 different antibiotic resistance patterns indicating higher order of reliability and sensitivity (88%). All the isolates were susceptible to gentamicin, ciprofloxacin, norfloxacin and sisomycin. ?he drug of choice for treatments of staphylococcus mastitis warrants manufacture of patent preparations containing gentamicin, ciprofloxacin, norfloxacin, sisomycin, kanamycin chloramphenicol and neomycin.
