摘要
As technologies advance and become present among students, it is necessary to study their impact on writing. This research analyses the influence on teen writing of the so-called textisms. Quite a few researchers have conducted studies on the topic, highlighting those from Wood et al (2013; 2014) which conclude that this language does not threaten writing. As these studies were done with monolingual speakers of English, it was necessary to check whether these findings could be extrapolated to a Romance language. To do so, it was chosen a group of high school students who are native speakers of both Spanish and Galician to apply a test about writing. The results agree partially with the conclusions of previous researchers but also add a forgotten factor for them: punctuation. This article also calls on the inclusion of the Smartphone in the classroom for using it properly.
