DETERMINATION OF IMPURITIES IN GRAPHITE BY ICP-MS AND AAS USING A METAL FURNACE

摘要
Elemental impurities in graphite: boron, sodium, magnesium, aluminium, titanium, vanadium, chromium, manganese, iron, cobalt, and nickel, were determined by ICP-MS, and calcium, potassium, copper and zinc by AAS using a tungsten furnace. Ashing in oxygen-plasma below 400-degrees-C was employed for the determination of the following 6 elements: sodium, potassium, titanium, chromium, copper and zinc. Ashing at 880-degrees-C in an electric furnace having a quartz-tube was employed for the determination of the other 9 elements. The dissolution methods used for the ashes containing each element were studied from the viewpoint of kinds of acid used duration and temperature. With these results, a suitable pretreatment method was established for the determination of a trace amount of impurities in graphite.
