THE PROBLEM OF ADVANCING INDUSTRIAL DEMOCRACY IN A POST-SOCIALIST SOCIETY

This paper analyses the evolution of industrial democracy in Russia during a period of transition. A 'social space' for industrial democracy and its actors is only beginning to appear. On the one hand, communist ideology and the practice of state socialism are ending but, on the other hand, the collectivist and quasi-collectivist workers attitudes continue. These factors influence the stages and forms in the labour movement and define the prevalence of those models of privatization which give decisive privileges to the workers' teams.
