RESPONSE OF VEGETABLE PEAS TO IRRIGATION, SEEDING RATES AND P-FERTILIZER

Field experiments were conducted on vegetable peas cv. Arkel at Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi in winter seasons of 1984 and 1985. Two irrigations applied at flower initiation and grain filling stages produced similar pod yields to that of one irrigation at flower initiation stage but the former gave higher pod yield than no irrigation and one irrigation at grain filling stage. Irrigation at flower initiation stage had higher water use efficiency (WUE). Higher seed rate of 120 kg/ha recorded higher pod yield and WUE than 80 an 100 kg/ha. The pod yield increased by P application up to 12.9 kg/ha only. Phosphobacteria had no effect in conjunction with applied P.
