APPLICATION OF LARGE-EDDY SIMULATION TO OPEN-CHANNEL FLOW

摘要：
The influence of stress-free boundary conditions on the turbulence properties and mean velocity profile near the free boundary of an open-channel flow is investigated with the help of a large-eddy simulation. The turbulence intensity parallel to the surface is enhanced, while the intensity of the turbulent fluctuations normal to the surface is decreased when compared to the case of closed-channel flow. The mean flow profile differs from the logarithmic law. These findings agree well with the results of experimental research.
