Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy (PEG) is a relatively new technique developed for providing enteral nutritional support to paediatric and adult patients. In a preliminary study PEG was evaluated in six high risk paediatric patients (age range 1 yr - 15 yrs; mean 8.5 yrs), Diagnosis included cystic fibrosis (5 patients) and mental handicap (1 patient), The procedure was successfully performed in all patients, There were no procedure related complications recorded, The technique is simple to perform, can be performed with minimal morbidity and has substantial patient benefits.
