摘要
Existing conventional mathematical models of unit operations and processes (at least some of them, often suffer either from a necessary simplification due to various limitations put on their form or from vague and uncertain ideas concerning the concrete numerical values of their parameters. Moreover, the conventional models do not allow to include important descriptive factors of linguistic character. Such a situation may occur when the results obtained from these models are comparable with those of their corresponding real process on a qualitative basis only. The objective of this paper is to present a modelling and simulation approach for the description of technological processes in both steady and unsteady state using the concepts of numerical and linguistic variable and the notion of fuzzy subset as their common quantifier. This approach enables making statements about process behavior which, although inacurate in the usual sense, convey to the understanding of basic characteristics of the simulated system. Known and original methods from fuzzy algebra are implemented in the frame of the FUSIM program which may be employed also in broader frame of existing conventional simulators based on numerical variable. Illustrative examples of fuzzy-linguistic modelling in chemical-engineering are presented.
