ELECTRONIC-SPECTRA AND BASICITY OF SOME 3-SUBSTITUTED QUINOLINES

The main UV-visible absorption bands of quinoline, 3-carboxyquinoline, 3-methylquinoline, quinoline 3-carbonitrile and quinoline 3-carboxaldehyde have been fixed. The electronic transitions have been determinated by using the CNDO/S-Cl semiempirical method. The dissociation constants of quinoline derivatives have been experimental and theoretically determined from the Forster cycle.
