This article has the objective to explore the works of linguists and specialists in general, who are pioneers of linguistic studies in Hispania, presenting part of their work with respect to a very controversial issue: the collision between the forces of dialectal differentiation and the resistance of the linguistic unit in the region. In order to make this analysis possible, the results of the Latin intervocalic "-n-" are specifically focused, that is, the nasality, a key element to comprehend the subjacent linguistic forces sometimes conservative, sometimes innovative in the peninsular territory. The determination of the phonetic areas, with repetition of coincidences, allows the detection of some historical forces; therefore, in this diachronic perspective, a linguistic unit is revealed to be greater than what was initially supposed to be.
