The Austrian Infarct Registry

The Austrian infarct registry contains data of 11.611 patients with Q-wave myocardial infarction and 1.814 patients with non-Q-wave myocardial infarction treated in 41 hospitals in Austria between 1990 and 2001. The history of angina, the mode of submission, the acute treatment, the complication rate, the invasive and non invasive diagnostic procedures, mortality and recommendation for drug treatment at discharge were documented. With this registry over a period of 12 years trends concerning the management of patients with acute myocardial infarction could be analysed. Based on the results of clinical research an increase of thrombolysis, invasive and non invasive procedures and acute treatment leading to a decrease of mortality could be shown. Also that the treatment at discharge corresponds with international standards.
