摘要
This article is an overview of the regulations, standards and guidelines for priority pollutants in drinking water used in the USA, Europe, Canada and USSR and those suggested by the World Health Organization. The most attention is being turned to priority organic contaminants now. The article summarizes US EPA proposed methods for the analysis of priority organic pollutants in water by Gas Chromatography. High Pressure Liquid Chromatography and Gas Chromatography/Mass Spectrometery. The best available technologies (BAT) for decontamination are discussed. There are two BAT for decontamination according to US EPA - Granular Activated Carbon (GAC) treatment and Aeration. GAC treatment is a preferable method and widely used in Europe and North America.
