摘要
Liquid flow phenomena strongly affect the microstructure and the development of casting defects in continuous casting of aluminium alloys. The manner how the mould is supplied with liquid metal and especially the design of the pouring system is here of main importance. The present paper yields some results of a recent research project, obtained by casting experiments on the vertical DC-casting machine at the Aachener Giesserei-Institut, here for the case of Al99.7 billets. A corresponding paper regarding slabs is already published [1].
