Anaphylaxis induced by natural rubber latex is being recognized with increasing frequency. Health care workers and persons with myelodysplasia are at increased risk of latex sensitization; concomitant allergy to inhalants or foods is common. Accurate diagnosis and latex avoidance, especially exposure to rubber gloves, are required to prevent future reactions.
