PROBLEMS AND CHALLENGES IN CANADA NORTHWEST-TERRITORIES

The transformation of the human and economic resources of the distinctive northern environment of NWT is considered and the dichotomy of two distinct modes of production is underlined. The contrasts between the developed communities and underdeveloped, traditional communities underlie many of the problems of this frontier area which offers the challenge of economic development while preserving the environment.
