Globalization landscape in Costa Rica and the importance of Geographical Information Systems (GIS) in its interpretation

In the article there is done a geographical analysis of the changes provoked in the landscape of Costa Rica as consequence of the global processes that have come happening in the last decades. There are analyzed the paradigms of the geography and its determination as reasons and its effects that the globalization produces in the landscape. In addition there is discussed the situation of the Great Metropolitan Area as a study of case where the globalization is making its impact printed in the way. That is to say, as a place which urban morphology reflects the fights and the contradictions of the social appropriation on the territory. It is emphasis the summit of the automated geography, waking particular interest up in the GIS as tools to understand of spatial form the internal transformations generated in the frame of the globalization. Finally it is a question of concluding that the globalization of the landscape is a dynamic and abstract process that is guided by the political commanding forces, to sorrow that the reasons of its transformation seem to be economic.
