The magnetic properties of CaxZnl-xFe2O4 (with x in the range 0.0 - 1.0) were investigated using Mossbauer spectroscopy and a.c. susceptibility measurements. X-ray diffraction patterns and Mossbauer data suggest that this system exists as single-phase spinel when x < 0.2 and as single-phase CaFe2O4 when x > 0.8. When samples are sintered in air, the Neel temperature of Ca0.5Zn0.5Fe2O4 is 27 K. When samples are sintered in flowing oxygen the Neel temperatures of ZnFe2O4 and Ca0.5Zn0.5Fe2O4 increase to 150 K and 205 K respectively. The room temperature resistance of the samples is reduced by three orders of magnitude when samples are quenched from 1100 K to room temperature.
