INTERESTS AND DECISION - THE CONSTRUCTION OF AN INVENTORY OF SIMULATED VOCATIONAL DECISION-MAKING

An inventory on simulated vocational decision making has been constructed, modelled on the hollandian theories and theories relevant to decision making. A sample of 457 professions representing the field of professions were distributed into 66 dimensions drawn from evaluations found in the Canadian dictionary of professions, from the results of Talent's study, as well as informations drawn from diverse sources. Factor analyses displayed 11 dimensions close enough to the fixed objective. Overall's Method of creation of arbitrary factors was used to obtain the desired results. Testing the saturations of arbitrary factors and factor scores of professions confirmed that the results were adequate to the fixed objective. The possible utility of this research has been evoked, as well as further work being carried out at present.
