摘要：
Increased sophistication of analytical instrumentation has resulted in great improvements in analytical speed and data processing. Sample preparation has now become the bottle-neck of many analytical procedures. This paper discusses the steps of the chemical preparation which can be automated, how automated procedures can be set up, and why automation will benefit a geochemical laboratory. Real examples are described and the advantages and disadvantages of automation are considered.
