MAGNETIC-MOMENTS OF BARYONS IN A NONRELATIVISTIC QUARK-MODEL WITH UNEQUAL QUARK MASSES

We consider the magnetic moments -mu = (eh/2M(p)c)g of baryons in a nonrelativistic quark model with unequal quark masses. We obtain results for g for three slightly different values of the quark masses and compare them with the equal quark mass case. For p, n, AND, SIGMA+, SIGMA-, XI0 and XI- we find very good agreement with experiment. For baryons with a c-quark or a b-quark, AND(c)+, AND(b)0, XI(c)+ and SIGMA(c)+ we obtain predictions but, as of yet, there are no experimental values with which to compare. The same is also true for the SIGMA0 and the OMEGA-.
