An asymmetry is observed in the hysteretic surface acoustic wave (SAW) attenuation curve that is obtained when a magnetic field is applied in the plane of a magnetoelastic film which is deposited on the surface of the substrate carrying the SAW. We propose that a SAW acoustogyric effect may account for this asymmetry.
